Jumping in with two feet!

It’s easy to jump in! Especially on the internet!

I enjoy blogging – generally – and have a presence in several places on the Web. Over the years I’ve blogged daily- monthly – weekly – and just when the fancy ‘took’ me.  I’ve followed themes, used the WordPress photo prompts, and sometimes just gone with the flow.

Things changed last year when various family health issues took priority, and in many ways I haven’t really found my feet again this year. Soon after the year began I had an unexpected stay in hospital, and then at the end of last month my mother died. Illness and death are not good subjects for blogging – so I’ve remained somewhat quiet.

At the beginning of this month, though, I spotted this:

Without thinking I signed up! In fact, I’ve signed up with TWO blogs. I’m planning on writing about creativity in some form or another here, and on my other blog (which has been really neglected recently) I’ll be blogging about……. well, we’ll see.

How about you? Fancy joining in? If you decide to do so make sure you leave a link to your blog below so I can follow.

Hot stuff

Progress continues to be slow with this Blanket of Fire, but it’s still an enjoyable project. Sadly my mother died at the end of last month, and we are still waiting for the funeral.

There are about 40 more rows to do – so definitely on the ‘downhill’. I find these projects very difficult to photograph, however. The ‘mauve’ is in fact Mocha! The colours are also much more dramatic and vibrant.

Never say …

I did say that progress would be slow on the Blanket of Fire. Well, it is. The diagonal is getting shorter, but there is still a long way to go.

I’m loving working with the mix of colours, though, and tomorrow it will be a month since it was started. One of the reds is very frustrating, though. It has knots every few yards, I don’t want to think about all the ends that need weaving into one sequence. I’ve had to buy another ball just for peace of mind!

Those of you that have been following the blog will have read that I never intend to make a blanket from Granny Squares. And just to prove it……

…… I just happen to have a few started. My motto is ‘Never say ‘Never’, which is just as well…….

because I think a blanket made with my Granny Squares will take far longer than the Blanket of Fire.

Half way

The gallery was made with the new WP app – Mesh. Click the arrow to see the rest of the pictures. I’m not sure if I like the result or not, at the moment the jury is out. Maybe I’ll get used to it…..

The Blanket of Fire is progressing. So exciting to reach the halfway point. However, I sadly have another complaint about a Stylecraft yarn. The red, Lipstick, is full of knots! I’ve wasted so much yarn by cutting them out and restarting. VERY frustrating.

A new project started too. Yet another C2C 😆 There’s a picture in the above gallery.

It’s growing

Work on this blanket has been curtailed somewhat as I’ve hurt my hand. However, it is growing and I’ll be able to continue soon.

While I’ve had nothing else to do I’ve also been thinking about the colour combination for the next one…..

I think I’ll be adding another couple of colours – but I’m nearly there…..

Red and yellow ….

Some colours are really difficult to photograph with the iPhone. There is no blue or violet! It will all become clear in time.

Enjoy your New Year if you are celebrating – if not – sleep well! 😉  I’m not sure what I’ll be doing….. but it will probably involve a bottle of red.

Happy New Year.
