So, here we are home. Well, sort of! It’s been such a busy three weeks, and they aren’t over yet. Three weeks ago I was packing for twelve days in Madeira, last Saturday was a quick turnaround fo Scotland, and now (after less than 12 hours at home) we are preparing for grandchildren sitting overnight. We are tired, but looking forward to seeing them.

Our Scotland trip was a memory trip for my DH. Our daughter came too and shared the driving. Almost 500 miles there, and the same back yesterday.

We stayed just a couple of minutes from the sea in North Berwick, an old fishing village. It’s advertised as the Biarritz of the North, but whomever called it that has obviously never actually visited Biarritz. It is, however a gem in Scotland and deserves its own title rather than the one above. The people are friendly and the town conveniently placed for train or bus trips into the centre of Edinburgh.

I spent a fair bit of time in the back of the car, minding my own business while our daughter and her Dad chatted. I get to see her more than he does so it was good for them to catch up. I took my crochet, but it had to be mindless so I continued with a couple of projects.

This is so nearly finished, but I could only work on it on one evening. I did, however, almost finish this:

The only disappointment about Scotland was the coffee! We had real difficulty finding anything that was drinkable until we visited Paul’s Yard. He recommended Cake who serve this coffee.

As you can see- I brought some back with me.
