Thoughts about a new blanket!

June is coming towards the end, and so too is the scrap blanket. I’ve enjoyed the random nature of it, but it wasn’t made in my usual calculated manner. I’m itching to get started on the next one now, and, after a number of experiments, I’m pleased to say I’ve decided on the colours. I can already see it in my ‘mind’s eye’ so I will be ordering the colours in readiness. As mentioned in a previous post I’m basing the colours on a summer flower, so this will be called the Nasturtium Blanket.

  • there will be 54 squares, that’s 6 strips of 9.
  • each block will have 7 rounds

I have chosen 13 colours that blend together very well. 12 of them are Stylecraft Special DK, and the last is a yarn that is new to me but that I will definitely use again. Included in the Stylecraft list are two of the newly announced colours.

So, here’s the list.

One ball each of the following colours of Stylecraft Special DK

Cypress, Meadow, Pistachio, Citron, Saffron, Sunshine, Dandelion, Tomato, Spice, and Clementine.

One ball of Deramores STUDIO Baby Soft DK in Primrose

Two balls of Stylecraft Special DK in Mustard

Three balls of Stylecraft Special DK in GOLD.

This quantity will cover the blocks, more may be needed for the border, but there should be enough within this quantity for a small border. Once again I will be using a 4.5 crochet hook, but you should choose whichever size you would normally use for a double knitting. (Number 4.00 is the recommended size.)

I hope you will join me. As usual the schedule will be published on a Wednesday for one or two weeks. If you order now via this link to Deramores you will find a code for 20%discount. It won’t be there for long I’m sure, though, so don’t delay.

    1. Thanks Linda. I’m really looking forward to colour again after a lot of Graphite 😂. However, the current one has an important purpose so I’ve enjoyed it too.

Where are the patterns for the squares? I know I’m late to the game but figured I could start with the next blanket. I’m sure there’s a post with instructions somewhere but I’ve been clicking around and cannot find it.
